Politics, Money and Media

If you are a millionaire it means you are part of the 1%. If we go into American politics, lets see where the money is."About 47 percent of Congress, or 250* current members of Congress, are millionaires, according to a new study by the Center for Responsive Politics of lawmakers' personal financial disclosure forms covering calendar year 2010". The median wealth of all senators is $ 2.63 million, while "Kohl ranks as the fifth richest member of Congress, with an average net worth of $173.5 million"

Thats alot of cash and information. So to be in a position high in the government means that there is a way to get a high amount of cash from sources.

Its become easier for politicians to use the media and portray their messages nowadays rather than 30 years ago.  Media messages spread like wild fire and these politicians use them to get their message to millions.

Red Indians

I really pity the many red Indians who were killed when America was conquered. They still live the way they used to and are strangers in their own country. This post is dedicated to them as they have a really strong, spiritual and colorful culture.

They are so misplaced that they do shows in between the street to earn money.

Vietnam war photos

The photo that got really famous in the Vietnam war as showed in class is shown below.

I found another one that looks like its taken later.

In this picture you can see the girl isn't crying as before, and the boy is crying as heavily as before. This second picture shows more reporters and less soldiers. The first picture shows that the kids are more terrorized, but the second picture shows that they might have wandered off from their house. The first picture shows that they are orphans now and their parents might have been killed as they are crying heavily.

Homework 3

They have used symbols which are sex related as you can see a girl with her mouth open and the wordings used such as It'll Blow. Then below they mention "Bk super seven incher" below the sandwich, we all know what it represents. This advertisement also uses Repetition as a technique as  "Bk super seven incher" is repeated in the description of the meal. Are they digging into womens desires when saying "Fill your desire for something long, juicy..."

Why would they say "Fill your desire for something with a creamy sauce that will dribble down your chin" this is in a way related to sex but using food . Symbolic words are used "Wrapped for your pleasure". Another symbolism is where the sandwich is placed, it directly symbolizes a mans private area. They use a handsome guy who is well built, this could be seen as " Beautiful people". A man would want to be that guy and a lady would want that guy with her.

Looks like two hands are hiding something, very symbolic again of sex. The wordings "We're about to reveal something you'll really drool over" has a double meaning.

This advertisement by Chanel shows that to be in fashion one must leave fast food, it also implies that to be in fashion you have to be thin or slim. If you are fat you cant be in fashion.

This link shows some ads like these

Dont Stereotype Me

Everyone has a filter in their head. Whatever they see or hear goes through a filtering process and whatever they say goes through a filtering process. For e.g. when speaking to a professor you wouldn't use foul language, your brain automatically filters your words that come out. While talking to your friends there would be a different filter on, so and so forth. So when our brain gets some information it gets filtered, thats why we are stereotypical of people. Its been fed in our brain that Arabs are rich, Blonde's are stupid, Indians are smart etc. But this is not true, all Arabs are not rich, all Blond girls aren't stupid, its an equal probability that a Brunette is as stupid or smart as a Blond. All Indians are not smart, all Indians don't own businesses.

This song shows some of the stereotypes that are in the world.

This picture represents some actions that make them a prey of stereotypes. When we see a person who has been stereotyped before it is already set in our brain that that person has that trait in them which could be totally untrue, but to remove these notions it is very difficult and therefore there are so many people who judge others just on their appearance or gender or race.

I am aware that whenever I walk around or into class, someone is judging me or putting me into a category where I might not even belong. This is life and we have to deal with it.
